Hey hey, Beautiful Babes! Do you have a boring Kitchenaid mixer that could use a makeover? I recently upcycled mine into a stunning pink leopard finish and I am so excited to share the process with you!
First things first, I wanted to choose a color and design that really spoke to me. And what better than PINK and LEOPARD?! I used a combination of ColorShot spray paint and leopard print foil to achieve the perfect look. The ColorShot paint was super easy to use, just make sure to shake it up and use light, thin coats to avoid drips. And the foil was surprisingly easy to apply and gave the mixer the perfect touch of glam!
To get started, I removed some of the pieces like the bottom metal circle where the bowl attaches. I also had my husband open the motor just to see what was inside. We scraped off the thick black parts with a wooden popsicle stick and added some new grease to keep it running smoothly. In the future, I would suggest taping off certain areas instead of opening up the motor, but we were curious, and I kindaaaa wish I hadn't seen how gross the inside was haha!
Next, I used sandpaper to create a rough surface for the primer to adhere to. I then applied a light coat of white primer and let it dry. Once the primer was dry, I applied two coats of pink spray paint (Farmer's Daughter by ColorShot), ensuring it was even and smooth.
Once that dried, it was time to add the leopard print foil. I applied a coat of foil adhesive and allowed it to dry for an hour so it came to a nice tack. After that, I placed the foil on top and started burnishing it down. When I lifted up the foil transfer sheet, the foil was left behind. I sealed it with two coats of ColorShot Clear Gloss spray for added durability and shine.
Overall, the process was a lot of fun and produced a beautiful and unique mixer that I am excited to use in my kitchen.
